Ready for the Weekend

Wow, what a week and I really am ready for the weekend and am very happy that it is my flex day tomorrow! For those who don't know what a flex day is it means that I work 70 hours in 9 days and get every 2nd Friday off. It is very nice to have those long weekends especially when a holiday Monday falls on the same weekend. It was a hectic week even though I was only in the office for 3 of 4 days. I had a couple of big projects on the go and almost had to cancel our plans as I was very close to having to work on Saturday and Sunday. The money would have been nice but I would much rather see my dad. We had our team building day yesterday and it turned out much better than we all thought. We started the day by meeting for breakfast at our supervisor's house (she cooked!) then we did a team building exercise with one of our workshops and really got to know each other's personalities (very fun!!), then we hit the local pub for lunch and wandered slowly back to Roxanne's place and sat outside and talked for an hour or so and then went home. It was a great day and we are all very happy we had it.

Today, however I think somebody must have painted a target on my back as I was catching crap left, right and centre by one supervisor all day. Nothing I did or said was right! I was very angry by the time I left today and there is nothing I can do about it as all the Managers know what this woman is like and they do nothing about it. Usually I am pretty good about not being on her hit list but it seems that every so often she remembers that there are other admin out there who she has not harassed in a while. Oh well, I just keep reminding myself that I am a lot younger than her and she will be retiring soon(well in a few years soon anyway!!!)

This weekend we are heading over to Vancouver Island tomorrow morning to spend a couple of days R & R with my dad and Heather up at their cabin at Horn Lake. We are both looking forward to sitting by the lake in the sun with a nice cold beverage and just hanging out with them and their friends. We might even get to go ATVing again this time. I hope so as I had a blast last year and am going a bit more prepared this time. We are only staying Friday and Saturday night as Paul has to work on Sunday afternoon and I told my friend and his fiance that would help them move when I get home and drop Paul off. Well I gotta run and finish packing as I am going to try to sleep in tomorrow for a while at least.

It's Hot!

Well, this weekend I had my first dinner party with more than 2 people and the first in our new house! I think it went well, we had Garth and Mary and our other friends A & R over. I made lasanga, ceaser and green salad and garlic bread for dinner. Everyone said that it was good but I am extremely critical of my own cooking - I think everyone is. A brought dessert and Mary brought wine - all in all it was a really good evening. We sat and talked for quite a while and then we moved into the living room where the guys concentrated on hockey news and the girls looked at wedding and honeymoon pictures from A & R's wedding in April. It was really nice to see everyone and pretty much as soon as they all left I crashed as I had a late night on Thursday as Paul and I had a pretty big disagreement so we were trying to sort all of that out - no worries thought we did and life is great again!!!

On Saturday Paul went to visit one of the youth that he worked with about 2 years ago - he still stays in touch with him and visits on occasion. He said that they had a really good time and made plans to go back again soon. I was really lazy and slept in and then sat around and read until he got home at around noon! We then went to Ikea just for a wonder around and to be somewhere air conditioned. We ended up spending $200 but is was stuff that we needed - we got a really nice duck feather filled King size duvet for only $60 and the cover and 2 shams for $99 I also picked up some other small things that i needed for the kitchen. We puttered around for a while longer and went into some other shops and then went for dinner and then home where it felt like it was about 150 degrees inside.

On Sunday - we slept in quite late as we were up late on Saturday. Paul left for work around 1ish and then I went out shopping for some more capris. I ended up running into my mom and spending the day with her - she is really depressed as the guy that she was seeing for about 2 years, well they broke up for good last week. I really feel bad for her as she really liked him - he did kind of grow on us but it took a while. She has sort of started seeing someone else but who knows.

I had to buy a fan for our living room today as it was 34 degrees inside our place this afternoon at about 4ish - the poor cat is suffering as well as all she does is stay at the door in the basement spread out on the floor on her back with all 4 legs up in the air. I wish I could do that as well!!! Oh well, this is only June...can't wait to see what July and August bring us.

Till next time...

Going through Pictures

I was playing on the computer tonight and realized that I have this new stepmom and stepsisters and alot of my friends have never met or even seen Heather. She is great. I have really come to love her alot and think that she is absolutly perfect for me father. I can't say to much about Nikki (on the far left) or Stacey (the middle) as I have only met them a couple of times. I literaly have only met Nikki twice and Stacey 4 times. They both seem pretty nice although Stacey is tonnes more friendly than Nikki. Anyway I will be going through more pictures and have more on the camera that I will try to get on here soon including some of the house.

Birthday Blues

I celebrated my 29th birthday yesterday and normally I LOVE my birthday, I used to make a really big deal about it and would get upset when people would forget. The past couple of years I have grown out of that and yesterday I really didn't care it was my birthday. I was a little upset that it was even here. In the end I got lots of phone calls and email's from friends and family (which was great!!!) and my mom and mother-in-law took me out for dinner as Paul is working until today ( so I also didn't get to see my husband for more that about 5 minutes yesterday)

I have been trying to figure out why I was feeling down and I think it was because I realize I am 1 year away from being 30 and I always thought that I would have kids by then and I don't, I know I am still young and we will have kids in the next couple of years but still it was one of those things.

This is also the first year that I didn't see my dad on my actual birthday. That made me really sad and he also didn't call me until I called him at about 9:30 at night. I really am a daddy's girl and am still finding it difficult for him to not be in the same city as me when I need him. I know that he is only a quick boat ride away but we still have to plan for it.

Oh well, enough of my pity party for one! Tomorrow I am going for a peticure and am REALLY looking forward to that as my feed are a real mess right now. We are also planning to go up to the cabin on the July long weekend for a couple of nights

Long time, No see

Wow, last night was a night of seeing friends I have not seen in a long time. We went to a show at the Plaza Club last night to support a friend of our whose band was playing in a competition. They were great and it was a fun night out. When we were there we saw some good friends there, some we had not seen in a couple of weeks, month but the best was seeing Dave and Alessandra. Paul had seen them but I have not seen them in about 2 years. Alex and I tried to have a conversation but the music was so loud we really just yelled at each other for about a half hour. We made plans to see them next week as they are getting married in September and Paul is going to be in the wedding party. That was great and mosty made my night, but it gets better...

As we arrived at the Skytrain we were standing on the platform waiting, I heard Paul say "Hey Man" I turned around and I can honestly say the my jaw dropped as I saw a really old friend of ours named Lucas. We lost touch with him about 2 years ago but he was never far from my thoughts. I was in shock. He seemed really happy to see Paul and I and he took our new number and we said we would see each other soon. When we got home last night he had called and left his number on our machine and he has already called us today as well.

It was really nice to see old friends like that but really made me think about how bad I am about staying in touch with people. To any of my friends who read this please know that just because I don't call or email or write it does not mean I don't love or think of you. You are all never far from my thoughts and I miss you all more than you could ever know. I will try to be better at staying in touch but make no promises.
